Section Committees


The Executive Committee of the Technology Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia meets monthly and exercises general management responsibilities over the work of the Technology Law Section. Please contact Gaines Carter using the Contact page for more information on membership in this committee.

The Litigation Committee of the Technology Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia focuses on litigation of technology disputes, including disputes involving computers and the Internet. The Committee provides litigation focused newsletter articles, CLE Luncheons and a module at the Section’s annual Technology Law Institute. The 2004 Technology Law Institute included a discussion of e-discovery as well as a discussion addressing how to avoid software disputes. In the past, the Committee has addressed topics including click-wrap and web-wrap agreements, arbitration in technology law disputes and technology law case law updates. The Committee on Volunteer Activities of the Technology Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia provides members a collection of both community service projects and pro bono legal service opportunities. Opportunities exist with A Business Commitment, Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation, the Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta, and Tech Corp of Georgia. The In-House Committee of the Technology Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia focuses on technology law issues from the viewpoint of in-house counsel. The Committee hosts CLE luncheons and roundtable discussions. Past CLE luncheons focused on the contract negotiation process and on privacy issues. Additional topics may include best practices for software licensing, source code rights, electronic commerce, IP indemnification, security, insurance, and dispute resolution.
